More than 150 construction jobs are to be created as Digital Realty Trust breaks ground on the first of up to eight 10,000 sq ft turnkey data centre suites contained within four buildings at Profile Park. The company has invested €120m in Ireland so far.

Upon completion, the four-building campus will total about 193,000 gross sq ft, with a total energy capacity of more than 15MW.

“Ireland is a key market for strategic growth for our global customer base,” said Bernard Geoghegan, managing director, EMEA for Digital Realty.

“We have over 34MW of data centre capacity in Dublin, more than 30 employees supporting our clients’ operations, and have invested close to €120m in our data centre facilities on behalf of our clients.

“Furthermore, as we continue to extend our connectivity ecosystem across our European portfolio, we can now offer clients cost-effective links to all of our European data centres, and a much improved total cost of ownership proposition.”

Digital Realty’s clients include global corporations, IT managed services and cloud providers, financial institutions, and multinational technology firms.

“Today’s announcement that Digital Realty, a highly innovative company and a leader in this sector, is building a data centre campus in Dublin, making a significant investment over the phased development and creating up to 150 construction jobs is a major boost and a further indication of the potential in this area,” said the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD.

Collen Group has approximately 25 acres of land remaining at Southgate, Profile Park for sale.
